Starbucks Coffee Company is the leading retailer, roaster and brand of specialty coffee in the world. It is an international coffee and coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, Washington, USA.
Starbucks sells drip brews coffee, espresso-based hot drinks, other hot and cold beverages, snacks, coffee beans and also mugs. Starbucks-brand ice cream and coffee are also sold at grocery stores.
The very first Starbucks was opened in 2000 Western Avenue, later relocated at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington, in 1971 by three partners, an English teacher Jerry Baldwin, a history teacher Zev Siegel and a writer Gordon Bowker.
The name, Starbucks comes from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, a classic American novel about the 19th century whaling industry. The logo is an image of a "twin-tailed siren" (The siren of Greek mythology).
Now, Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world with 16,120 stores in 49 countries.
Starbucks is huge (undeniably). But (or perhaps because of this) quality control is dropping for many of its franchise stores. The following link backs up my claim (;

starbucks can be found almost everywhere, and that made it a perfect place to chill, catch up with friends, or even mug on schoolwork. even with strong competition around, they are still attracting new customers and keeping the old ones with their coffee.
ReplyDeleteI think that Starbucks has woven its way into our lives as coffee is soon becoming a necessity for most people everyday in the morning or just to relax in style (contrast sitting at Yakun drinking traditional coffee).
ReplyDeleteIts also so glamourous to be seen drinking frappes and iced coffees because celebs like Marykate Olsen, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan etc are spotted with Starbucks in paparazzi pictures.
Starbucks Coffee is no stranger to us and interestingly,it has international names around the globe which is both good and bad. It is a thumbs up because it is uncommon and is bad because people travelling around the world might not know this and will think that it is a "fake" starbucks coffeehouse.
ReplyDeleteAlthough in Singapore Starbucks seems to be a very commonly seen coffee house and many people tends to patronize Starbucks rather than other coffee houses. However, I have heard in some countries Starbucks isn't that popular compared to other coffee houses.
ReplyDeleteStarbucks Coffee is the largest coffee company in the world and is also seen everywhere in Singapore. It had always been famous among the youths and teenagers and a great place for them to meet and gather for a short period of time. However, they do not have good reputations due to lots of incidents such as opening a store at china's forbidden city.
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer starbucks to other coffee houses as i think it taste the best. There is also the tumble(drinkware)that they sell in different countries where different countries have their own designs.

ReplyDeleteStarbucks Coffee is loved by the youths. There are different flavoured of coffee to choose from. It originally uses pre-ground beans and it uses whole bean to grind into coffee which will give out the aroma of coffee which make Starbuck the largest and famous coffee house.
ReplyDeleteThe crushed ice, the whipped cream and the aromatic smell of coffee...
ReplyDeleteI see Starbucks a place to relax, with snacks like cakes together with the pleasant tasting beverages, its heaven to even those that holds a grudge against caffeine(me.)
P.S.And people, it Oreo cheesecake is really nice! :D
i think. starbucks was the first place i had my real cup of coffee. a long black i think. and gosh. the atmosphere is gooooood. :) .. they actually sell the music they play in starbucks, at the front counter. followed by the tiny mints with their brand logo on it. i can almost find a starbucks outlet anywhere in singapore. from the east (eastpoint and tampines) to the northeast (compasspoint) to orchard etc. etc. :)
ReplyDeleteStarbucks is definitely top of my list when it comes to coffee. It is also a nice place to hang out with your friends, do your assignments or just to have a cup of ice blended coffee accompanied with a slice of cake.
ReplyDeleteWhat i really like about starbucks is their services and the cosy atmosphere. All the enthusiastic workers makes me feel welcomed and ease in there. It's definitely one of the best get together places with friends.
ReplyDeletePeople no longer visit for the coffee but also the comfy sofas & ambience of the store :]
ReplyDeleteOf course, the wireless@SG provided at Starbucks helps a lot! :]
Well... but when people visit there no longer just for quality coffee, aren't they losing their focus? Just something to give a thought about :]
